POWAY ELITE WRESTLING
CHAMPIONS
The 2018-2019 season was highlighted by 9 individual National Championship titles. Individuals who won multiple national titles include Mario Carini, Collin Guffey, and Andre Gonzales. On the state level Poway Elite wrestlers won a total of 10 State Titles, had 16 finalists and 32 state placers. At the same time, Poway Elite Alumni ripped up the the high school season. Former team members Andre Gonzales and Jason Miranda both finished 3rd at the CA High School State Championships. During the summer, Andre Gonzales became the first ever double champion at the USA Freestyle and Greco National Championships in Fargo, ND. Brock Bobzien also won a title in Greco and earned 6th place in Freestyle. Poway came home with a total of three titles and 5 All American plaques. See Hall of Fame for more results.
The Doctor Munday Wrestling Center
Located on the Poway High School campus, the Doc Munday Center is home to all of the Poway Youth and High School training all year. The center has 3 full mats in the main area with stadium seating for parents and fans, We have a weight room, coaches offices, and a lobby waiting area. Our training center is one of the top wresting facilities in the country.
