JOHN MEYERS is one of the most decorated wrestlers and coaches to come through the state of Connecticut. As a wrestler at Hall High School, John won 4 state titles and a New England title as well. 

 

Coach Meyers also excelled in Freestyle and Greco Roman winning several national championships including a Cadet National Freestyle title and a silver medal at the Cadet Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia. Later, he would compete for the US University World team and travel to China, Mongolia and Finland to represent our country. 

 

Meyers was a collegiate wrestler at the University of Minnesota and became the head coach at Southern Connecticut State University before moving to California. Also, an assistant for Poway High School, he has been part of 2 team state titles and many individual state and national titles since 2002.

 

COLIN KENLEY is a former Poway High School wrestler who was a Master's finalist and two time state quailifier. Kenley became the head coach at Northeastern University club team for five years and traveled to the national championships with the team. Kenley has coached at every level in the Poway organization as a freshaman, junior varsity and varstiy coach at the high school level and a Slammers and Poway Elite coach at the youth level. Colin brings a wealth of knowledge in all styles of wrestling and is a true student of the sport. 

 

TOM STORER returns to Poway Elite this year after a couple of years off. Tom was the head coach for Poway Elite for 5 years at its start. Tom wrestled at the Division I level for the Naval Academy and is on the top ten list for most pins while at the academy. Before college, Tom wrestled in New Jersey for team state champs Highland High School. Tom has coached at every level at Poway including the freshman and the varsity level when Poway won the CA State Title in 2009.

 

MIKE SPISAK hails from the great wrestling state of Pennsylvania where he was a 4 year starter for the legendary high school program at Kiski Area High School. Mike continued his college career at perennial power University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
